Tech Tuesdays with P.A.L.S

Do you want to improve your confidence using technology? Join our friends from Project Adult Literacy Society (P.A.L.S) every Tuesday for computer basics sessions on different topics. Bring your own device if possible or borrow one of the library’s Chromebooks for some hands-on experience in a small group.

Prerequisite: Active email account. If you don't have one, please ask library staff for help.

This weekly registered program is held at the downtown St. Albert Public Library in the 2nd floor Training Room.

February 6-Computer Basics 

Objective: An introduction to the basic usage of a computer and common terminology. 

February 13-Setting Up Your Computer 

Objective: Expanding on the basics, this class will also cover adding and uninstalling programs, computer settings, and personalization. 

 

February 20-Internet Fundamentals 

Objective: Navigate web browsers and access online content safely. 

 

February 27-Email Essentials 

Objective: Understand and use basic email functions, primarily focusing on Gmail.  

 

March 5-Online Safety 

Objective: Recognize online threats, create secure passwords, and avoid scams. 

 

March 12-Social Media and You 

Objective: Understand general social media usage, etiquette, and safety. 

 

March 19-Where's That File? 

Objective: Learn about file management and how to organize your files. 

 

March 26-In The Cloud 

Objective: Understand and use cloud storage platforms like Google Drive and iCloud. 

 

April 2-Using Your Smartphone 

Objective: Learn about your smartphone settings and basic functions. 

 

April-9-Wellness with Technology 

Objective: Discover apps and websites for mental health, fitness, and telehealth. 

 

April 16-Navigating Video Calls 

Objective: Use video calling applications effectively, manage settings, and share screens. 

 

April 23-Word Processing Basics 

Objective: Understand word processing tools like Google Docs for document creation. 

 

April 30-Troubleshooting for Yourself 

Objective: Learn to solve common computer issues on your own.
