Science Literacy Week: Meet a Paleontologist!

Celebrate Science and Space at the Library during Science Literacy Week (Sep. 17-23, 2018)!  Science Literacy Week (www.scienceliteracy.ca) showcases the excellence and diversity of Canadian science, and shows how exciting science is.

Join University of Alberta paleontologist and CBC science columnist Dr. Scott Persons for a journey back in time. Learn the 228-million-year story of how drifting continents, rising seas, and chilling ice ages conspired to make the badlands of Alberta the #1 dinosaur hunting ground in the world. Dr. Persons will share his experiences digging up fossils, trailing dinosaur trackways, uncovering the skin of T. rex, and using dissections of modern birds and reptiles to solve the ecological mysteries of Alberta’s most successful dinosaur: the duckbill.

All ages!

Dr. Persons is also the author of the new book, Dinosaurs of the Alberta Badlands, on sale at the event and available at harbourpublishing.com.
